Northern Lights Photo Tour

This tour is available as an add-on to other Day Tours. Keep in mind that if you are staying in Reykjavík the approx 4 hour Tour is operated around Reykjavík.  There are some nice locations too shoot… but for the more “Epic” locations you have to go further away from Reykjavík and that’s out of the scope of this tour.

As an add-on to other day tours we are at location so we have many world class locations to choose from. Another options is the “Sunset  & Northern Lights Tour“, where we drive to some Epic location and as the name describes… shoot Sunset and Northern Lights, this is a 10-12 hour tour.

The northern Lights are often visible in Iceland during winter time. If the forecast is right and the sky is clear we´ll go hunting for the northern lights with Icelandic nature in the foreground, locations vary from day to day according to the best conditions available. This is your chance to experience the northern lights in an amazing environment, extend your day tour with us and experience the magical Northern Lights first hand with your Icelandic local photo guide.
The Northern Lights are most common and easiest to spot and photograph on a location in latitudes in the Arctic Circle from 68 degrees to 74 degrees (Iceland´s latitude and longitude 65°00 N 18°00 W). The best time of year to travel to see the lights is in the winter months due to low light pollution and clear atmospheric conditions. Some say that new moon cycles can improve your chances as well, but we are so spoiled here in Iceland we have the lights available almost every night it just depends on the clouds and weather if we see them or not.  For best chance to enjoy the sightings and get the best photos we´ll take a short drive and avoid urban areas as unwanted ambient light can really affect your images. We´ll set up at a nice, dark field with a nice foreground and the duration of the tour is expected to be approx. 4 hours. Of course we have a few tools handy that help us determine the odds according to the weather and magnetic field each day so we can let you know in advance if to prepare for a long night.
